DSBBC Wins a Pair in Central PA

On August 10, the Diamond State BBC traveled to Mechanicsburg to take on the Keystone BBC of Harrisburg. The two clubs squared off for 2 closely contested contests.

In the first game, the Keystones jumped out to an early 3-tally advantage as the Diamond States struggled to find success at the striker’s line.  However, as the game reached the middle frames, the Blue and Black bats came to life to storm back to a 9-3 lead.  The Pennsylvania nine managed 2 aces in the 8th inning, but were unable to mount a comeback.  The final score was 10-5 in the Delaware team’s favor.

The second game of the matchup was even more of a nail-biter than the first.  Steady offensive efforts by both clubs resulted in a narrow 6-5 margin for the visitors at the completion of 4 innings.  The Keystone club mounted 4 tallies in the 5th to regain the advantage.  However, it didn’t last for long, as the Diamond State club scored once in the 5th and 4 times in the 6th to retake the lead by an 11-9 score.  In their final turn of the 7-inning match, there was no quit in the Harrisburg ballists, as the plated the 2 runners necessary to draw the score even.  In the bottom of the inning, Lobo reached base with his 4th hit of the game and stole a pair of bases to take 3rd.  Anchor took up his bat and showed great patience, drawing a walk that put the winning tally on the board.

The Diamond State BBC will return to action on August 18, as they travel to Pocopson Park in West Chester, PA to take on their friends from the Brandywine BBC.  The game will begin at 4:00 pm.
