Diamond State Runners-up at MAVBBL Tourney

The Diamond State Base Ball Club traveled south to Harrington over the October 5-6 weekend for the Mid-Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League Tournament.  The weekend started with a Quarterfinals match against the Elkton Base Ball Club.  Mini’s superb work between the pitcher’s points kept the Elkton club off-balance the entire game, limiting them to 3 tallies.  Meanwhile, the Delaware bats mounted 9 tallies to take the victory.  The club advanced to take on a tough opponent in the Atlantic BBC of Brooklyn in a semifinal contest.  Building off of their momentum, the Blue and Black jumped out to an early 8-0 advantage on their way to a 13-3 victory. In the championship game, the Diamond State club squared off against their downstate opponents, the Excelsior BBC of Milford.   The game was a closely contested defensive battle, with the two clubs tied at 2-tallies apiece after 7 innings.  The DSBBC plated an ace in the eighth inning, but gave up two in the Milford half of the inning.  Unable to score an equalizer in their last turn, the Diamond State club came up short in their bid for the championship.  The well-played tournament was a fitting conclusion to another successful season for the DSBBC.
