2017 Season Starts With Pair of Losses

The Diamond State Base Ball club kicked off their 2017 campaign with a trip to West Chester for matches against the Mohican BBC of Kennett Square and the Brandywine BBC of West Chester.

The day started with a contest against the always tough Mohican nine.  The Kennett bats got going for the season quicker than those from Delaware, as the Blue and Black found themselves in a quick 9-2 hole after 2 innings.  The Delaware side was able to settle in for the middle innings, but was never able to close the gap, eventually finding themselves on the short end of a 16-9 final.

In the second match, the Diamond State bats were again slow to spring to life as the side fell behind early.  They were able to stay within arms length of the West Chester side, pulling within as few as 4 aces before surrendering 5 tallies in the 7th inning en route to an 18-11 defeat.

The Diamond States will return to action on April 22nd as they play their home opener against the Athletic BBC of Philadelphia at Ft. DuPont in Delaware City.  The matches will begin at 1:00 pm.
