Diamond State Opens 2015 Campaign with Victories
Saturday, April 18 was our season opener at the Mohican BBC’s beautiful new home field “Walker Reservation” in Kennett, PA. This new field sports a backstop, trees as benches and a rolling view of a valley beyond right field. We wish them many well played matches at this field.
In our first game of the season the Diamond States took on the Brandywine Vintage Base Ball Club and took the first game 27-4. Bob “Thunder” Zappaterrini pitched six consecutive “0” run frames to assist in the win as many of Diamond States bats came alive.
In our second game against the Mohican Base Ball Club of Kennet the Diamond States played a tough match of defensive base ball. After both clubs put up early tallies, the Diamond states were able to battle back and hold on for a win in a well fought 6-5 match. Keith “Boots” Glines assisted at the plate with 3 tallies and knocked Greg “Memphis” Boulden in for 2 of his three tallies in the game.
Diamond State travels to Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia on April 25 for their next game. The game will start at noon in Fairmount Park near the Please Touch Museum.
