DSBBC Wins Pair in Philadelphia

The Diamond State Base Ball Club traveled to Fairmount Park in Philadelphia on Saturday, August 26 to play a pair of matches against the Athletic BBC of that city.  In the first match, the Delaware nine held onto a slim 6-4 advantage after the first six innings.  However, the Athletic club tallied 7 aces in their 7th inning to pull ahead.  The Diamond States were not to be discouraged, however.  After tallying once in each of their 7th and 8th innings, they were able to tally 4 times in their last time at bat to pull out the 12-11 victory.

In the second match of the day, the Blue and Black jumped out to an early advantage on the strength of 6 aces in their first inning.  The Philadelphia side came back to tie the game at 6 apiece, setting up a back and forth affair for much of the remaining innings.  The Diamond States were able to stay ahead for a 17-13 victory to complete their successful day of base ball.
