DSBBC, Lewes Face Tie Breaker for Delaware Cup

On July 23, the Diamond State BBC traveled to Lewes to take on the local nine.  The first match on the day was designated as counting towards the Delaware Cup standings.  Behind 3 tallies apiece in their 5th and 8th innings, the Blue and Black came out on top of their adversaries from the south by the final of 10-5.  The club was lead at the line by Lightning and Doc (2 hits apiece) as well as Buzz who delivered a key double in the 8th inning to stretch the Diamond State advantage.

The clubs played a second match on the day that did not count towards the Cup, with the Diamond States once again victorious by the score of 6-4.

On August 5, it was the Lewes BBC’s turn to hit the road, as they came north to visit the Blue and Black on the ground of Hagley Museum.  The home turf was not as kind to the Diamond States, as they were kept in check for the entire match and fell by the final tally of 8-2.

With the Delaware Cup standings now sitting at 1 victory a side, a tie-breaking match will be scheduled for later in the season to determine who will go home with the coveted prize.
