Diamond States Split in West Chester

On April 16th, the Diamond State BBC made the short trip north to West Chester, PA for matches against the Mohican BBC of Kennett Square and the Brandywine BBC of West Chester.

In their first match, the Blue and Black faced a tough opponent in the Mohican nine.  The Diamond States were able to manage only 6 aces, while surrendering 23 tallies.  The Delaware nine were lead at the striker’s line by Hawthorne, who had 4 hits in 4 trips to the striker’s line, including 1 double.

In the second match of the day, the Diamond States hoped to rebound as they squared off against the Brandywine club in a closely contested affair.  The West Chester nine jumped out to an early advantage.  However, the Delaware strikers soon came alive, as they exploded for eight tallies in both the 5th and 8th innings as they came from behind to capture a 17-13 victory. Buzz led the strikers with 4 hits, however it was a balanced effort, with 9 different players tallying an ace during the match.
