Diamond States Hoist Dover Days Cup

On Saturday, May 7 the Diamond States played in their annual match at the Dover Days Festival.  In standing with the tradition of facing off with intrastate opponents, their opponent for the day was the Lewes BBC.

The festivities took place on the field behind Woodburn, the Governor’s Mansion, with His Honor trying his hand at pitching before the match.

The crowd that braved the on-and-off rain showers were treated to a tightly-contested back-and-forth affair over the game’s first several innings, with the Diamond States clinging to a 5-4 advantage.  However, they were able to add 2 aces in the 6th and 1 in the 7th before widening the gap with 7 tallies in the 8th inning on their way to a 17-4 victory.

The Blue and Black strikers were lead by Doc (5 hits), Gator and Blackbart (4 hits a piece). Ring contributed 3 hits in his 3 turns at the line.
