DSBBC Lands Victory in Princeton

On June 30, the Diamond State Base Ball Club traveled to Princeton, NJ to take on the Flemington Neshanock BBC.  The first match of the day was played under the rules of 1864.  The Blue and Black jumped out to a quick 6-0 advantage after their first two turns at the striker’s line.  The Neshanock strikers were kept off balance for the entire match by Mini’s dominant pitching, which was backed by strong play for those in the field.  The Flemington club managed 3 late tallies, but the Delaware nine hung on for a 9-3 victory.  The Diamond State club was lead by Blackbart’s 4-4 at the strikers line, with Devil, Dutch and Ring also contributing 2 hits apiece.

The clubs then took the field for a match under the rules of 1873.  However, in the 4th inning, Mother Nature took over, as a storm forced the players to abandon the field.  This match will be concluded on August 25 when the Neshanock make a visit to Wilmington.

The Diamond State Base Ball Club will next travel north on July 13 to face the Athletic BBC of Philadelphia.
