Diamond State Splits a Pair with Rising Sun BBC

On July 21, the Diamond State Base Ball club made the short trek to McMillan Farm in North East, MD for a pair of matches against the Base Ball Club of Rising Sun.  The first game was a evenly contented affair, with the two sides exchanging tallies throughout.  The Diamond State Club pulled even with the Maryland nine with a tally in the top of the eighth inning, but the Rising Sun club responded with a tally of their own to take a 7-6 lead into the 9th inning.  However, the Blue and Black were unable to produce the equalizing tally and can up short as the game came to an end.

The second match also kept the spectators on the edge of their seats.  The Rising Sun strikers jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage.  However, the Delaware club came roaring back with 7 runs over the 4th and 5th innings.  Rising Sun managed an additional tally to pull closer as the game reached the late innings, however, the Diamond State BBC hung on for the 7-5 victory.

The Diamond State BBC will be idle next week.  However, the Atlas Nine will come out of a 3-month hiatus to  challenge the Miverna BBC in Bridgeton, NJ on July 28.
