Blue & Black Snags Post Season Invite
September 23, 2011 The Diamond State Base Ball Club has received an invitation to participate in the Mid Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League’s (MAVBBL) 2011 Championship Tournament. The event, featuring six of the MAVBBL’s best clubs, will take place on the Fort DuPont Parade Ground in Delaware City, Delaware on Sunday, October 2 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Diamond State received the #5 seed in the tournament by virtue of their 18-10 regular season record.
The Blue & Black will face the 2011 Maryland State Champions, the Cecil BBC of Chesapeake City (the #3 seed) in one of the day’s first two matches, both beginning at 10:00 a.m. The other early features the Gotham BBC of New York (the #6 seed) and the Fair Play BBC of Talbot County (the #4 seed). The winner of the Diamond State-Cecil match faces the tournament’s top seed and defending champions, the Atlantic BBC of Brooklyn, at noon. The Gotham-Fair Play winner faces the #2 seed Eclipse BBC of Elkton.
The loser of the Diamond State-Cecil match will face the loser of the Gotham-Fair Play match at noon in a consolation game.
The tournament’s championship game and the #3 place game (if needed) will begin at 2:00 p.m.
