Delaware Nine Looses Two in Easton
September 13, 2010 – Sunday saw the Diamond State Base Ball Club hitch up their wagons for their final road trip of the season, heading south to take on the Fair Play BBC of Talbot County under grey drizzling skies. The Fair Plays quickly showed why they are one of the premiere teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, scoring three tallies in the first inning and only failing to tally an ace in one inning, running up a final tally of 15. The Blue and Black tried to muster what they could, but could only scrape together five tallies all together falling by a final of 15-5. KB led the way with three hits and two aces with Steady contributing two hits and an ace.
The Diamond States tried to tried to regroup in game two, but unfortunately picked up where they left off in the first game and were unable to tally any aces until the final two innings. Talbot’s offense again was red hot as they failed to tally an ace in only one inning again. Despite a furious rally by the Blue and Black in the final two innings, the Fair Plays were able to hold onto the lead 18-10 and sweep the double header to close out their season.
Mini (3 hits, 2 aces) and D-Woww (3 hits, 1 ace) led the offense in the second game with multiple hitters (El Jefe, Steady (2 aces), One Finger (ace), Swampy (2 aces) and KB (ace)) all contributing a solid game at the plate.
Diamond State returns to Ft. DuPont on Sunday, September 26th for the final game at their usual home field vs. Excelsior BBC at 1PM.
