DSBBC 2010 Award Winners Announced

November 12, 2010 – Last night at the Diamond State Base Ball Club’s annual post-season meeting, the club presented awards to two of its players and one volunteer for their accomplishments during the 2010 season.

Crissie Kabacinski was awarded the Levi C. Bird Award as DSBBC Booster of the Year.  Aside from fulfilling a role as historical interpreter, Crissie also served as the ball club’s official tally keeper and one of their most ardent supporters.  She is married to Diamond State ballist Jeff ‘Swampy’ Kabacinski.

DSBBC was pleased to present the Charles M. Tatnall Striker of the Year Award to assistant captain, team statistician and third baseman Garrett ‘Steady’ Perdick.  He led the Diamond States in Total Hits (73), Doubles (24), Total Bases (102) and Slugging Percentage (.785).  Steady also slugged a homer and triple, while posting a team second-best .562 Batting Average.  He is a founding member of the modern day Diamond State BBC.

First-year player Dan ‘Mini’ Minutola was named Diamond State’s Most Valuable Player, receiving the Fergus G. Malone Award.  Remarkably, Mini expertly pitched every inning of every game during the 2010 regular season.  In one short season, he has gone from learning the position to becoming one of the best pitchers in all of 19th century base ball.  Mini fielded his position well and also was one of Diamond State’s strongest strikers.

The Diamond State Base Ball Club extends its sincerest thanks and congratulations to Crissie, Steady and Mini for jobs well done!
