Game In NJ Hopes To Garner Interest In New Club

October 5, 2010  The Diamond State Base Ball Club will play a special “home” game across the river at Riverview Beach Park in Pennsville, New Jersey on Sunday, October 10, 2010, when they face Mid Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League Eastern Division rivals, the Dauntless Base Ball Club of Havre de Grace, Maryland.  The 19th century base ball game will begin at 1:00 p.m.

The game in Pennsville marks the first time that Diamond State has played a home game outside of Delaware.  The ball club and the Mid Atlantic League hope that the event serves as a springboard for the formation of a new ball club in Salem County.

Organizers of the new Mosacsa Base Ball Club of Salem County are currently recruiting players for a revival of the old team.  The Mosacsa was one of the very first amateur baseball clubs to form in Salem County, when they began operations in the city of Salem in May 1865.

Those interested in possibly joining the Mosacsa either as players or to assist with organization of the club are encouraged to attend the October 10 event at Riverview Beach Park.  Sign-up information will be available at the Diamond State-Dauntless match.
