UPDATES:
October 10, 2015- The Diamond State BBC hosted the Athletic BBC of Philadelphia for a well-attended match at Rockford Park in Wilmington. DSBBC was victorious by the score of 32-14.  After the game, interested community members tried their hand at 19th century base ball in a friendly match with members of the two clubs.

October 7, 2015- Wilmington City Council President Theo Gregory presented the DSBBC with an official proclamation.

October 6, 2015– DSBBC received an official Tribute from Delaware Governor Jack Markell in recognition of our 150th Anniversary.

September 9, 2015 – This year marks the 150th year of baseball in the state of Delaware and the Diamond State Base Ball Club (DSBBC), a New Castle County vintage base ball club, is planning to recognize the occasion with two special events open to the public in October, both in Wilmington.

On October 7, 2015 at 5:30 p.m., DSBBC will offer a brief talk on the first organized baseball game, played 150 years ago to the day between the original Diamond State Base Ball Club and St. Mary’s College Clubs, both of Wilmington. The discussion will take place in parking lot of Trinity Episcopal Parish, 1108 N. Adams Street, at the site of the original game.

Three days later, on Saturday, October 10, DSBBC will host a 19th century base ball game in Rockford Park beginning at 1 p.m. against the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia. The two clubs will demonstrate how the early game was played with a match featuring 1860s rules, using replica uniforms and reproduction equipment (and no fielding gloves!). A second game will take place immediately following the game, where the DSBBC will encourage members of the community interested in playing according to old time rules to join in the fun.

Groups and individuals interested in participating in the Delaware Baseball Sesquicentennial Celebration are encouraged to contact the Diamond State Base Ball Club via email at DiamondStateBBC@gmail.com.
